Rising Property Listings Give Buyers More Options and Negotiating Power
Property buyers have more choice than they've had for quite some time.
According to SQM Research, national residential property listings rose 12.4% in July to 278,984 dwellings, despite winter traditionally being a quieter period for the property market. Total property listings are now 22.8% higher than a year ago.
More listings mean sellers are facing greater competition for buyers’ attention. With homes also taking longer to sell, combined capital city asking prices eased 1.2% over the month, giving buyers a better opportunity to negotiate on:

Contract terms
Having your finance organised before you start negotiating allows you to move quickly when the right property comes along and negotiate from a position of strength.
